Gig Photo: Spinnerette

This photo was taken at a Spinnerette gig at the Electric Ballroom in Camden, July 2009. I adore Brody Dalle,  in The Distillers and in Spinnerette. She is one of my idols...Her growly snarly voice is amazing and really makes her mark in a tough genre of music for women.

Let's Dance for Comic Relief

Last night my friend and I went to the recording of the final of Let's Dance for Comic Relief. It really was so much fun, awesome night! I was really disappointed Noel Fielding didn't win, he was so funny! And Russell Kane as Beyonce really was hilarious.

Here are some photos my friend took (naughty!):

For those of you that missed it, here's a video of Noel's performance:

LOVE IT!!

And here's Russell Kane:

This is a photo of Jesse Hughes, lead singer of Eagles of Death Metal. We saw them in April 2009 at the Kentish Town Forum. Eagles of Death Metal are such an awesome band and are so fun to go see live. Jesse is really funny and is a real ladies man!

Crochet #4

I have now made 18 squares, a bit slack as I have been really busy the past week!

I'm also very excited, because look what came in the post today:

All the way from Hong Kong! I ordered them on eBay, they were only 59p plus £3 postage, and they arrived with 4 days! Not bad considering on the eBay page, it stated that it would take 11-23 days! Can't wait to start on new projects! xoxo

Nails Inc - A Royal Flush

I love nail polishes! And am very excited for Nail Inc's new range coming out, which celebrates the engagement of Wills and Kate!

Will is a gorgeous red, with a crystal cap with colours from the union jack, and Kate is a light cream with a cap inspired by her sapphire engagement ring. Both are £15.

There is also a collection of 4 different royal colours, and this costs £25.

Deftones - You've Seen The Butcher

The music video this week is from my FAVE band, Deftones. This song is off their latest album, Diamond Eyes, and is called 'You've Seen The Butcher'. Deftones have such obscure names for their songs! I love this video because Chino takes his top off and he's uber fit!

Hen Weekend

It's the weekend wahooo!!  I'm off to Manchester for a friend's hen weekend! I can't wait, I've never actually been on a proper hen weekend! South Africans don't really go all out like they do here in the UK, we just normally have a one night party. So I'm really excited to have a hen WEEKEND!

The plan is to have a burlesque class in the afternoon! I've always wanted to try burlesque, I think Dita Von Teese is gorgeous!! I'm still not sure what I have to wear for the class, but I think my hold ups and heels might come in handy!

We will then be moving on to a club. I haven't had a night out dancing with the girls in such a long time, so this should be loads of fun and time to let loose! Hope you all have a good weekend! xoxo

Gig Photo: Deftones

This photo was taken 12th May 2010 at a intimate Deftones gig at ULU in London. I have seen Deftones plenty of times, but this gig was my favourite! Deftones are my all time favourite band and I am madly in love have the biggest crush on Chino Moreno. He's GORGEOUS!!

I Heart French Bulldogs

I am totally crushing on french bulldogs at the moment! I want NEED one...

MUA

Following on from Superdrug...Superfail, here is my review on the colours I did end up getting:

MUA Shade 15. The first photo is without a flash, second with the flash. Neither of the photos do justice to the colour, it's a bright pink with a hint of coral. I really like the colour, and will definitely be using it again.

MUA Shade 5. I really like this colour, but I hate the nail polish!! I don't know why the pink was so different to this one, but as you can tell by the photo, even after 2 layers it was blotchy. The nail polish is extremely watery. The good thing about it is that it lasted forever with no chips. Does anyone know a similar colour from a different brand?

Catlike Thieves

This week's video is from a South African band called Catlike Thieves! I went to school with the guitarist, Justin. They are awesome!

About the band:

"Take a fresh breath of something so sweet you'll believe you need nothing else to feel complete. Take all your joy, love and good times and transform them into this very moment....
The moment you found the music that takes you back to those very memories you love to share, the moment you found understanding, comfort, and great "make-out" music. Catlike Thieves, the soundtrack to your life.
Stealing fans since mid 2008, rising to ever distant highs, The boys residing from the sunny shores of Durban have come up with a fresh outlook on what people should call music. With a target audience ranging from the trailers in Benoni, to the Lofts in Cape town, their "Old-school" meets "Britney" vibe reaches way beyond the roots of good old "care-free" Rock 'n Roll.
To some up an eternity of influences, making the shortlist are the likes of Green Day, Yellowcard, Beach Boys, Wolfmother, AC/DC, James brown and New Found Glory. Having mixed this with a life experienced in Africa they have swung a full 360degree cycle of skirt lifting, knee-slapping, sister kissing possibilities of "feel good" music. This is all soon to be materialised onto a compact disc with their up and coming album "Nine Lives".
Currently the limited edition four track EP has made its way into the lucky hands of the few and has been heard on many campus radio stations. Speaking to the heart of the South African nation, "She Smiles" peaked at number three on Puk FM, knocking at the big wooden door that is the South African Music Industry.
In just several months the band have achieved many of their goals, playing at two consecutive Mr Price Pro 2009/2010 and White Mountain folk Festivals 2008/2009,Splashy Fen 2010, touring the coastline of South Africa on their "Cash In Transit EP" tour June 2009, They have played with some of SA's top acts and can boast about opening for the likes of Zebra & Giraffe, The Parlotones and even doing a short KZN tour with Stealing Love Jones.
Making waves wherever they go Catlike Thieves carve their mark into newspapers, magazines as well as the music websites of today. They take their performances to a whole new level each time they perform.

"They cross-pollinate the genres of old-school rock."
goingplacessa.com
"They have a very unique and explosive acoustic/rock mix, lots of energy, use of the stage and amazing connection with an appreciative audience."
mrpricepro.com
"Found guilty of stealing the hearts of fans nationwide!"
nearlyillicit.co.za
"Great determination to do what they love and get their music heard is channeling them to new heights."
six-love.co.za

"post-Catlike living" has been said to be the way forward. So embrace the change with Ear-Plugs in hand, dancing shoes worn in, and we will see you soon."

I heart this video, it's so fun! So check them out and show them some support! x
